Digital Acquisition Prototypes

All defense acquisition programs require two fundamental elements to execute: an acquisition pathway and a contracting strategy.  Executing organizations should select the acquisition pathway and contracting strategy that best meet the needs of the program in a way that is complementary and supports positive program outcomes.

The Adaptive Acquisition Framework describes five major acquisition pathways to deliver capabilities. Each pathway has an initial process model, based on DoD policies, to guide users on navigating the acquisition lifecycle to effectively deliver capabilities.

The Contracting Cone describes the full spectrum of available FAR and Non-FAR contract strategies to provide visibility into new or lesser known strategies and ensure the full range of contract strategies are considered.

These prototypes were developed by MITRE for USD(A&S).
